two: Rs

Only a few of you have known me long enough to know about my Merrry Christmas faux pas. (Did you even catch it that time?)

Wondering what I’m talking about? Take a gander back in time with me…

Note to self: Merry should only ever be spelled with two Rs.

Or maybe I should stick with Happpy Holidays.

  1. Can I have Grace too with my typos??

** I just thought of something, when we first met cyber wise, we used to laugh at all my typos, I was on a diet remember? We blamed it on the celery… mmmmm..

    time flies when hearts meet.

can I just have some grace for my typos??

  2. Shame.

I did NOT catch it this time probably because I am the worst speller on the planet or because I like Tony the Tiger. Either way it isn’t a big deal Alece because you are an amazing woman and an amazing friend and seriously if you stick a picture of Niel in the Christmas card (with the new hair) nobody will even read it.

  3. heidi - i’d forgotten all about that! and of course there’s grace for your typos. cause i know there’s always so much grace for mine. my heart and brain work way faster than my fingers.

motts — “or because i like tony the tiger” — you make me laugh.

  4. Your mom makes me laugh.

  5. you’re weird.

  6. When i saw your note to self i was wondering who the heck would spell Merry with only one ‘r’!!!

So if an anglophilic spell-freak like me can miss it the firrst time i’m sure a whole bunch of people who got the card could too…

… until you blogged to the whole world about it of course - then it stands out a mile! :-)

Mebbe you could go for Joyeux Niel this year?? ;-)

    love Bub

    <B

  7. Are you doing the 12 days of Christmas?

    one:…

    two:…

    hmm…

    :-)

Or maybe it is an advent count down.

Or maybe it is just a fun thing to do.

    hmm…

    :-)

  8. i was wondering about your number plan too!

i do remember that, i think i’ve already bugged you about that this year and payed for it in a typo of my own!

    i lovve you! ;)

  9. love — it passed the bub test!? wow.

@ngie — kind of set a little challenge for myself. blog everyday this month and include the number that corresponds to the day of the month somehow in my post.

yeller — i love that you’ve been reading that long!

  10. I twitched at the use of the word “gander” again. I need to get over that. ;-)
I loved the Merrry Christmas card I got last year.
So tired, and gotta jet to classes. I love you tons.
Oh, and I’m a huge fan of the Joyeux Niel idea. HA!

  11. That is so funny!! when I read it the first time I read it like Tony the tiger with out even thinking, I think Santa even says it like this sometimes too. So does Neil still bring it up in his defense sometimes?

  12. roo — i hadn’t even noticed the “joyeux niel” in love’s comment. dang, i’m losing my editor edge. (and sorry for the goose reference.)

faith — he hasn’t in a while. maybe he’s forgotten!

  13. You guys crack me up.

I dont’ remember any of it because I am a newbie. Still wet behind the ears. LOL

  14. Oh what fun to be a part of this community of friends!

  15. i know, right!?

  16. Can’t never have enough R’s in Merrrrry. Can anything be too merrry? Well maybe after enbibing a little too much Christmas punch.

If it wasn’t for Spell Check I could never write anything on the Net.

Have the Basotho incorprated anything from their traditional culture into Christmas?

  17. Have a verrrry Merrrry Christmas!

  18. Have a Jollly Hollliday!

And, I never noticed the Merrry until you mentioned it on the blog last year! I was too interested in the photos and stories!

    :)

    Roo’s Mom

  19. Leesh - if i know Niel ( and i don’t!) ;-) he won’t have forgotten… he’s just waiting for an appropriate level of stuff-up by himself in which to use the Merrry defence.

Of course this theory could fall apart at the seams if he stuffs up and you are too much of a sweetie to point it out! :-)

    Yeah! that’s it. You’re a sweetie!

    <B

  20. “stuffs up” hehe.

  21. ed — you always ask such great culture questions. the basotho have a “christmas father” story (santa) but kids don’t believe in him or anything — he’s just a story. i think they traditionally gather as a family and share the best meal they can on that day. other than that, i don’t know of any basotho christmas traditions…

    papa — you tooooooo!

roo’s mom — i wonder how many people who received it never even noticed!

    love — riiiiiight, that’s it exactly! ;)

  22. I remember having to look at the card long and hard and several times before I saw it. My brain was correcting the mistake. That’s my theory.

  23. nat — that’s what i told myself, too!

  24. Oh my gosh, I just went and read about it… SO funny!!! And it’s so easy to do… for heaven’s sake I used to edit for a living and I miss things all the time… and people take great pleasure in pointing out that I’m losing my touch :)

    Merrrrrry Christmas!

  25. you got paid to edit? i’d love that! until i missed a “merrry christmas” or something!

  26. I used to write and edit for a trade magazine. It was heaven. Like going on an adventure every day right at your desk.

  27. that is awesome!
