four-minute friday: groceries

Go.

Niel, I’m going to dedicate my four-minute Fridays to you while you’re gone. Or am I the one who’s gone? Who knows…

While I’m here and you’re there, I sometimes worry about whether or not you’re eating well. I know you are a great cook, and the king of making yummy meals out of the random leftovers in our fridge (even if they’re only yummy to you). But, still… I know it’s hard work being back in the bachelor-hood.

So I was really glad you sent me a picture after you got home from the grocery store this week. I appreciate you setting my heart at ease and reassuring me that you are eating a healthy, balanced diet.

My heart rests easy today.

Done.

Ha ha! SO tongue-in-cheek. :D I love it! And Niel … there are so many husbands in your boat. Mine would chime in if he weren’t asleep beside me.

Looks like he got the essentials! :) ha! I love the four bottles of wine…..maybe he’s drowning his sorrows because the love of his life is so far away? And the M&M’s is the icing on the cake. Maybe Kev and I need to go to SA and “check” on Niel……Wine and M&M’s sounds like a great combo to me!

He’s obviously a man of priorities - wine, chocolate - fantastic, hee, hee :)

m&m omelette’s. Fantastic!

this is the saddest picture i’ve ever seen. but, look on the bright side, at least he IS going to the grocery store. drew wouldn’t even take it that far!

Niel.. how are going to survive with chunky soup? As in the woman said in the Wendy’s commercial “Where’s the beef?”

That stove top is sparkling clean! Either Joyce does a really great job… or the thing is not being used. I wonder… :-)

That’s awesome.

The first time I left Daniel we were on the phone and he reported he didn’t feel well. I asked him what he ate and he replied “suckers”.

hmmm…

Welcome back, 4 minute! Good to see you again.

How’s Alece Jr.?

I don’t see the bottle of canned beets that he bought added there. Rebecca and I made fun of him when we saw that in the check out line. Maybe he already went through them….

Better refrigerate those eggs. ;-)

-danielle- your husband eating only suckers made me laugh!! Sounds like mine.
S.A. has some good wine, if I lived there I would stock up every week. Whenever I go away, even if it’s just for dinner I have to have the freezer stocked with frozen pizza and a cold beer in the fridge! MEN!

Good man.

so where is the spam?

Chili and Chocolate??? and EGGS?

Good job you are not there at the moment Leesh… Chili and eggs can mean only one thing….

LOVE-PUFFS! (ask Tam/Brandy/gchy)

I’m praying for your man :-)

<B

Awww…
what the heck…..

I believe - if i am not mistaken….

that you may not have had one before….

So clearly…

you are long ‘overdue’…

for…

a Hostile Comment Take-overrrrr!!!!!!

I’m done!

As you were :-)

<B

interesting choice of food…
Haha.

love just gets crazy sometimes, doesn’t he???

love is just jealous…he wants to eat dinner w/ Niel

I had to chuckle at this!
Its all nice and healthy! :-)

totaltransformation - Are you from the States? Whenever people from the States come down and see that we don’t refrigerate our eggs here they always freak out.

I plead the 5th to whatever Love may or may not have said about me. heehee

Good grief… let’s all send Niel some Metamucil or FiberCon or something to that degree. Oh wait, he got chili. Nevermind. :???:

You don’t refrigerate your eggs???? Why?

I’m lovin’ the four bottles of wine though! HAHA!! That’s awesome!

“totaltransformation - Are you from the States? Whenever people from the States come down and see that we don’t refrigerate our eggs here they always freak out.”

Why yes I am. I thought eggs had to be refrigerated lest they go bad.

LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

That is hilarious. Alece, you gon have to put him on a tight leash at the grocery store when you get home hehehehe

love~you are SO g-o-o-f-y!

hi Alece! This is my first visit to your site! I have seen you over at Ed’s and I am a friend of Tam’s. Where is your husband?:-)
(Sorry, I am a bit new)

My dog eats better than your husband, Alece.

A LOT BETTER.

totaltransformation, if Niel is making the M&M omelette’s Kristiapplesauce suggested those eggs will be gone long before they could spoil.

From the labels it looks like Niel likes Bull Brand “corned meat” and “spaghetti & meat balls”. Also Heniz’s “big’n chunky” meals. He-man stuff for a real he-man.

Alece, I gave in:

A Convert!

Praise the Lord! :-)

I’m off to read a new blogger :-)

Thanks Man!

(that’s Andrew - not you Leesh! Does little Al have a blog yet??

too ’soon’?? :-)

I live here and I make sure my eggs make it straight to the fridge. Seriously. Ewwww. Gross. At least I don’t freak out anymore when other people don’t put their stuff in the fridge or when the power goes off for days and days…but still, I prefer my stuff cold and safe.

And again, what is up with that mean robot thing?————————————————>
And I don’t mean the stop light.

brandy & totaltransformation -

You don’t refrigerate your eggs???? Why?

Here in Bolivia the eggs are sold unrefrigerated either at a stand int he market or off the shelf in the supermarket. In the almost 7 years we have been here I have never refrigerated my eggs and we haven’t had problems. I do try to wash off the chicken poo before we use them, though. On Wikipedia they said that some eggs are treated with a chemical by the “manufacturer” that cause the eggs to spoil more quickly - thus requiring refrigeration. egg question

So - I would say - go with what you have always done. :-)

um….they sell those big bags of M&Ms here? how did I miss that!?

im proud of Niel for the Texan stuff whatever it is. :)

total — the whole “refrigerate or not refrigerate” dialogue was a huge source of tension in the early months of our relationship (my husband and i…). south africans don’t refrigerate most things that americans do, like eggs or open mayo/ketchup/salad dressings. we went round and round and round… and… well, check our fridge and you’ll see who “won”. (aah. the joys of a cross-cultural marriage! ;-))

love — thanks for thoe hostile take-over up there… i think.

realstorie — my husband is back in south africa (where we live) and i’m in the states, with a friend who just had a baby. (both my husband and i had been in the usa for a 6 week ministry trip; then he headed home and i stayed on in america for a while. i’m american and he’s south african - just so you know!) and welcome to the G&G family! i’m glad you stopped by.
