After such a long blogging break, it’s a bit of a challenge to take up writing again. My creative juices seem to still be on vacation…
We got home on Wednesday night; we had such a great time! It was wonderful to get away and enjoy time with friends. Hawaii was definitely the highlight for me; it was absolutely gorgeous! And of course I cherished every minute we had in New York with my family. I am blessed!

So … you have a great Mom. But I dropped by to say hi. I was looking at your myspace self portraits. :) I thought of something … after living in South Africa for almost 10 years … do you sound different? Are you losing your New Yorker / gaining a S Afrikan twang? I’ve lived in MN for 5 years or so … talking to my grandma on the phone she said, “You don’t sound like us anymore!” ha ha. Just wondering.

thanks, anneth! and YES - i do sound different. when i first moved here, no one could understand my thick new york accent! i’ve kind of neutralized. don’t sound south african, but i don’t really sound like a new yorker anymore either. a few weeks back in NY with my family, though, and it all starts coming back — until my plane touches down in joburg. then it mysteriously disappears again.
